Writing
Although I love the idea of using Social Studies to do writing, I felt that I wasn't at a point in my classroom to use what we had first thought of. I did like Brenda's writing prompt she came up with and will use it in the future with my class. I did find some primary sources and a few "Who Am I" activities to help get the students acquainted with Ben Franklin. That will help with the writing.

I agree that this time of year is tough to get the persuasive writing in because it is a trimester 3 event in our district. I was able to have my kids do a quick-write, but clearly we need to practice this. The historical information I gave my kids could be better as well. I think that perhaps the topic would be better if the kids had a choice of people, so they could write about the one they know the most about, or the one they feel most passionate about. What do you think of that idea?
