reflections of lesson

Well, using Spec has really helped with our writing.  The student groups each took a colony and then each student took a part:
 culture, economy, religion,geography,etc.. they were to write about the part and persuade the others to come to their colony.  The students are then taking the information and drawing pictures with the information. They are really loving the special time to work on this project because it really involves them.

This shows me that I sometimes really like what I do with my students!

Writing

Although I love the idea of using Social Studies to do writing, I felt that I wasn't at a point in my classroom to use what we had first thought of.  I did like Brenda's writing prompt she came up with and will use it in the future with my class.  I did find some primary sources and a few "Who Am I" activities to help get the students acquainted with Ben Franklin.  That will help with the writing.
